Z Is For Zachariah

This film is very loosely based on a children’s novel by Robert Conly, which was finished posthumously by his wife and daughter.

The book only has two characters: John Loomis and Ann Burden, played by Chiowetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie. The story is set in a post-apocolyptic oasis, and the characters believe that they are the last people on Earth. However, the movie has thrown in a third character, Caleb, who stumbles into the idyllic valley to create a love triangle.

The acting is adequate, but it felt like I’d been walked to the brink and then left there. The story just ends. I cannot understand why anyone would bother making this book into a movie. It just wasn’t worth it.

Give it a miss. 5/10
