“Race” tells the true story of Jesse Owens who took centre stage at the Berlin Olympics in 1936.

Jason Sudeikis plays his coach, Larry Snyder, who pushed Owens to be the greatest track & field athlete the world had ever seen, ultimately taking home 4 Gold medals in one Olympic Games.

Great script, great cast, great performances by Stephan James, William Hurt and Jeremy Irons and the best performance I have ever seen from Jason Sudeikis. I think he has rounded a corner with this role, and is on his way to becoming an actor that I can take seriously.

A thoroughly enjoyable film – 8.5/10
