Two elderly folks meet in an apartment building and slowly become friends. Elsa is a larger than life, free-spirited soul (who is also a pathological liar). Fred is a cranky old widower, waiting to die.

Elsa hounds him into joining her in the world outside his bed, and eventually he discovers that she has a terminal illness.

He takes the decision to fly her to Rome to make her dream come true – to re-enact Federico Fellini’s scene in the Trevi fountain from the classic film, “La Dolce Vita.”

With a cast featuring Shirley MacLaine, Christopher Plummer, Marcia Gay Harden and Chris Noth, you would expect a really enjoyable cinematic experience, but sadly not! Rubbish script, mediocre acting, and a dull and pointless story. Not at all touching or sentimental…
