“Jumanji meets Stephen King” in Rob Letterman’s visual extravaganza.
Jack Black plays R.L. Stine – a creepy and reclusive children’s horror fiction novelist whose books are locked away, for fear that the characters inside them will escape their pages and wreak havoc on the small town of Madison, Delaware.
Dylan Minette is Zach, the new boy in town, who is attracted to Stine’s beautiful teenage daughter, Hannah.
Hilarity and chaos ensue when Zach and his wingman, Champ, break into Stine’s house, believing that Hannah is in danger. They unwittingly unlock a book, endangering the town and everyone in it.
Enjoyable, but will appeal more to a tween/teen audience.
