Icelandic director, Baltasar Kormákur’s “Everest” tells the harrowing and ultimately devastating true story of several simultaneous expeditions to summit Mt Everest in May 1996.

The film boasts a stellar cast led by Australian Jason Clarke as Rob Hall, the founder of ‘Adventure Consultants,’ and features Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Kelly, Josh Brolin, Emily Watson, Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley.

The scenes on the mountain are gripping and brutal, and the characters’ stories are told with such emotion and honesty that you feel like you’re up there with them.

For its ‘edge of your seat’ pace, breathtaking cinematography and Oscar-worthy sound editing, it gets an 8/10 but no happy endings…
